To Grace and Scott,<br><br>Having just gotten home from the hospital after my TURP and keeping in mind the YELP article I sent to you, I want you to know how important the work you do and the way you do it is.<br><br>I experienced what great psychological effect good bedside manner is. The TURP was a piece of cake. But Scott you know how depressed I have been and the reason. Well these nurses did more for me than a month of anti-depressants. i don"t think they came up Grace"s legendary bedside manner but they were great. By dinner time the day of the operation I was experiencing a natural high like when I used to be a runner. I took no hydrocodone or really any pain medication but felt great. After lights out I was laying in bed just hyped and feeling good. I even slept well like I have not been able to do for months. These nurses were responsible for that. When the afternoon nurse left for the night nurse to come in i told her I had a great day and *enjoyed* my day in the hospital. She said good bye to me as did the first duty nurse and wished me well.<br><br>Since I had a constant flow of fluid into my bladder and a constant drain they had to empty the catheter bag every hour. So I was awakened almost every hour during the night. The night nurse told me if i couldn"t sleep just call her and she would come in a chat for a while - what a darling.<br><br>I told them all that while most people know the technical things that nurses do, few know the psychological effect nurses can have on people often more important than the technical stuff. I certainly experienced this.<br><br>You two are real heroes!<br><br>Love you both,<br><br>Tony<br><br>And now for something completely different. At about 4 AM I came out of a deep sleep with a bit of pain where before there had been zero. The the nurse and CNA came in a few minutes later. I told them I was wide awake and why I was. I had experienced a nighttime erection with a quarter inch Foley in me OUCH!!!!<br><br>They both doubled up in laughter.
